What is the RISE Scholarship Program?

SDA, and Udacity are partnering to offer fully-funded nanodegrees to train learners in the latest tech skills through RISE. The program offers learners the opportunity to choose their path, track and Nanodegree based on their career level and learning ambitions.

What does this program entail?

RISE program is free of charge and available to all eligible learners who successfully pass the application on Udacity website. The program consists of a 4-month, self-guided learning journey with the rest of the SDA -Udacity Scholars cohort.

How can I benefit from this program?

Students will have the opportunity to work on real-world projects designed by industry experts to build their portfolio of skills and learn one of four core skill sets to prepare them for a career in a job of the future.

What does the learner journey look like as part of this program?

As a student in the RISE Program, your learning journey will be 4 months and self-guided, depending on your track. Throughout your entire learning journey, you will have access to an online community platform, where you will get to ask other students and mentors for support to help you through any learning difficulties or even to network!

What are the eligibility criteria to enroll?

Manager eligibility criteria

-Submit the online application form.

-Saudi National.

-Have a leading role in the organization with 5+ years of experience.

-Manage a team or making a huge career shift towards becoming a Manager within 6 months or individual contributor with a managerial role

-Interested in technology and digital transformation.

Youth eligibility criteria

-Submit the online application form.

-Saudi National.

-Be aged between 22 and 30 years.

Graduated or recently employed in any sector with less than 2 years of experience.

-Actively job seeking or unsure of career growth.

Freelancer eligibility criteria

All students who graduated from the following UDACITY 4 technical Nanodegree Program: Digital Marketing, Front End Web Developer, Full stack Javascript and Full Stack Web Developer will be able to apply to the DFREEND.

Saudi National.

Are there any fees for enrollment?

No, this is a free scholarship.

What is the duration program?

The program is designed to run in 2022. However, it is important to note that the program is self-paced, you can finish it in less than the designed duration if you wish. When will the applications open/close?

How will I know if I am accepted for the scholarship?

We will contact you via email. So, please make sure to check your e-mail frequently. Please use one email for everything during the program, and make sure to check your spam folder to see if you received emails from our side.

Is this program online, in-person, or a combination of both?

This is a fully online program with live virtual connect sessions. Throughout the cohort, students get to learn through online videos in their classroom and interact with peers, coaches, and instructors on their community platform and in their weekly Connect Sessions.

Can I join two Nanodegree Programs at the same time?

Unfortunately, this is not possible as you will only be accepted in one Nanodegree program only at a time. We recommend that you apply for the Nanodegree program you are most interested in and after you graduate you can apply to other Nanodegree programs in the future cohorts if the program is still available.

Digital Freelancer Nanodegree FAQs

What is the SDA - Udacity Freelancing Program?

SDA, and Udacity are partnering to offer a fully-funded nanodegree to train learners in the latest tech skills in Digital Freelancing followed by a Freelancing Placement Program (FPP)

Who can apply to the Digital Freelancer Nanodegree (DFREEND)?

-All students who graduated from the following UDACITY 4 technical Nanodegree Program: Digital Marketing, Front End Web Developer, Full stack Javascript and Full Stack Web Developer will be able to apply to the DFREEND.

What is the timeline of the Nanodegree Program ?

The Nanodegree Program is one month from your enrollment date.

What is the objective of the Freelancing Partner Program?

This is an independent program driven by Udacity whose objective is to support Udacity SDA graduates in landing a paid freelancing gig (online project). The end goal is to have each participant land a paid freelancing gig by the end of 3 months. Please note that this is not an educational program, but rather a program focused on gig placement and proposal submission. Qualified students to this program will be assigned to, a top freelancing marketplace. Once matched, we will have you set up a profile on that platform (if you dondt have one already) and then receive perks from the platform to enable you to land a gig.

What are the perks that we will receive on

Exact perks will be defined once you are accepted and qualified for the program! Examples of perks will be in the form of special badging, membership discounts, access to talent managers, exclusive webinars, and many others.


these perks will not guarantee you a gig; you will still have to work very hard to land your gig.

Why does the program require a weekly 10-hour per week commitment across 3 months?

According to freelancing platforms like Upwork, Hsoub, and, it takes an average of 3 months to secure a gig, and an average of 8-10 proposals to land a gig. Since the objective of this program is for you to land a paid gig, we want to make sure we select students who have the time, bandwidth, and commitment to those timelines and succeed in this program.

What are the criteria to be accepted and qualified for the Freelancer Partner Program?

Some characteristics we are looking for include the following:

1-SDA students who have completed their technical Nanodegree and graduated from the Digital Freelancing Nanodegree.

2-Strong communication skills: e.g. ability to write effective proposals and strong command of the English language.

3-Freelancing experience: e.g. has profiles on platforms and successfully landed a gig before.
